Umpires Allow Texas Rangers to Pull Off Worst Double Play Ever

The Texas Rangers are playing well this season in spite of losing so many players (especially pitchers) to injuries and with the loss of slugger (or former slugger with the way he's playing) Josh Hamilton.

They are playing so well that even when they screw a play up like they did in Friday's game against Seattle that they still get credit for it!

Pitcher Justin Grimm is a youngster so his mistake is understandable; not acceptable of course, but youngsters make dumb mistakes.

The umpire's mistake is not. How can he not see that play? Assuming he was watching that is...

You've got to wonder a little about the Mariners in this case too. No one happened to see what really happened? Where is the base coach? What was manager Eric Wedge doing? Clearly not paying attention since he argued that Mitch Moreland's foot was off the bag!

In the end the play was meaningless since the Rangers went on to spank the Mariners 9-5, but with the rash of blown calls of late I can't help but wonder if some of the NFL's replacement refs are moonlighting as baseball umps now.
